In an effort to raise as much money as possible, a select few art works will be sold in a silent auction! The auction will take place during the first Friday opening , on February 3rd at DesignBox’s new location. Bids may be placed between 6p – 9p.

As Oliver and his family journey through this unknown territory, 20+ local artists and friends have donated their artistic visions to have fun with the little man as well as to raise money to help cover some expenses. Art will be priced at $100 or less and all money taken from these art pieces will go to benefit the Gants. A percentage of sales throughout the rest of the shop will also be given.

CHROMA: MIA YOON - DEREK TOOMES - ANI HOOVER

Dec. 02, 2011 – Jan. 21, 2012

When finalizing an exhibition concept to unite the works of Mia Yoon, Derek Toomes, and Ani Hoover, Flanders Gallery pondered the significance of the word “chroma.” While its Greek roots refer to something as basic – and, in the visual arts, necessary – as the qualities of color, it has another denotation as the color component in television signals. This dual meaning, blending both the essential elements described by ancient civilizations and the scientific progress of modern-day man, seemed particularly representative of the spirit of the exhibition’s selected works. CHROMA brings together the styles of these three artists who start by using color to broach technological discussions in a contemporary age.

Extinguishers was curated by Hieronymus at the EM Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC. All works are on, or related to, fire extinguishers.

Over 25 Raleigh artists and a collection of local businesses have donated artwork, goods and services for a silent auction designed to raise funds for a fellow local artist and good friend of mine, Robert King. This piece along with many others will be available. Come out for some for some great art, at a great price, and for an even better cause.

NCMA Art of the Auction

This saturday is the North Carolina Museum of Art’s Art of the Auction!! I was stoked to be able to donate a contributing piece, and this event is sure to be a hit. The best in show was given to Mathew Curran’s stencil cut out titled “White Tale.” If you make it out to the NCMA, be sure to checkout the 30 Americans exhibit.
